About Us

Who We Are

ALDAYA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in the Bay Area, California.

Our partnership with native peoples started after a meaningful encounter with an Indigenous leader of the Xingu region.

Today, we work in solidarity with Indigenous leaders, artisans and organizations in Brazil.

Vision

Our vision is of a world where the human consciousness is awakened to the knowledge of our interconnection and interdependence with the Earth.

Through this awakening we envision an alliance being formed, where the remembrance of our true nature creates a supportive relationship from modern cultures to indigenous peoples.

Mission

Our mission is to raise financial resources to support the indigenous peoples of Brazil in preserving their cultures and traditions, allowing their memories to continue to exist and create.

Our intention is to serve as channel through where their stories can be shared, thus creating a space for their voices and wisdom to be known, supported and respected.

Etymology

The word ‘aldaya’ (al.da’ya) means ‘the village’.

In the Brazilian Portuguese the word  ALDAYA translates to ‘aldeia’, which refers to a specific indigenous land, community or territory, where each native people practice their unique traditions.

Commitment

As a nonprofit we abide to the commitment of directing all our profits towards the economic sovereignty and entrepreneurship of Indigenous artisans, as well as 75% of our revenue towards programs that support their handmade art and Indigenous-led projects that aim for the preservation of their traditions.

Fundraising

When you donate to the ALDAYA project you are helping us to support Indigenous communities to achieve financial sovereignty, as well as Indigenous led organizations and allies to advance the rights of Indigenous peoples in Brazil through social community based projects.
